    Mohawk College 2008 Year In Review - Presentation Transcript

    1. Published in an international research journal. 4th year Medical Radiation Sciences Sonography students Andrea Perron, Lisa Smith, Elena Stravinkas and Angela Persico (not pictured) with Mohawk Professor Darrin Cournoyea.
    2. G medal winners in two old national competitions 3rd year Advertising students Ashley Dinga and Katey-Sue Masales.
    3. Active citizenship in our community and far from home.
    4. Showcased in a new Province of O ntario initiative and media campaign. BIEN graduate Adrianna Ramirez.
    5. Helped create and forge Canada’s new Victoria Cross Medal. Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Technology graduate Peter Newcombe.
    6. YWCAHamilton Women of Distinction Award Winners ECE graduates Debbie Crickmore and Karyn Callaghan with Hamilton Mayor and Mohawk graduate Fred Eisenberger.

    8. VISION: “Mohawk College will be the most sought after Canadian post-secondary destination, renowned for its ‘real world’ applied innovation culture and future-ready graduates with the skills required for today and the ability to prosper from tomorrow’s opportunities.”
    9. At Mohawk Brantford, renovations create a new student lounge and upgraded labs for industrial millwright and graphic design students. At the Fennell Campus, AWing renovations begin, a new modular building is added and more multi-media smart classrooms are created.
    10. At the Mohawk-McMaster IAHS, the café is renovated and the Learning Resource Skills Lab expands. At STARRT, new West and E Wings ast are added with more labs and classrooms and more opportunities for more students to pursue gold-collar careers in skilled trades.
    11. Mohawk further strengthens government relations. Mohawk actively engages with all levels of government. Among the elected officials who visit Mohawk in 2008 were: Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. Dwight Duncan, Minister of Finance. John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. Michael Chan, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. Jim Wilkinson, Minister of Research and Innovation. Michael Bryant, Minister of Economic Development. Ted McMeekin, Minister of Government and Consumer Services Sophia Aggelonitis, Hamilton Mountain MPP.
    12. “Canadian colleges conducting vital hands-on work for business and communities alike are pressing all the right buttons.” – Globe and Mail
    13. Industrial Engineering students gain real-world “sweet smarts” with a local manufacturer.
    14. Students and faculty continue to make progress on the first working prototype of Canada’s Electronic Health Record.
    15. 2008 KPIs Graduate Employment Rate Graduates from 32 programs achieve a 100% employment rate. Employer Satisfaction Rate 58 programs achieve a 100% employer satisfaction rate.
    16. Like our collaborative Nursing degree program, our Medical Radiation Sciences program earns the highest level of accreditation possible.
    17. Work begins on Mohawk’s Program Quality Assurance Process Audit next March.
    18. Mohawk achieves the 3rd highest percentage increase in applications and the 8th highest percentage increase in confirmations among O ntario’s 24 colleges.

    20. Harold Cummings quietly donates $4million to the Mohawk Library. The Marshall F amily donates $1.48 million to the Marshall Centre for Transportation.
