Invited speakers include representatives from municipal planning organizations, ports of entry, economic development councils, state legislatures and Congress, federal & state departments of transportation, local border governments and other key stakeholders from the U.S. and Mexico, including Arizona, California, Sonora, and Baja California. SCAG's efforts include comprehensive communication and the concept of shared planning and efforts as a region. Until now, that has primarily involved Southern California and Baja California. With the ongoing growth and activity in Yuma, and especially in regard to regional efforts such as the San Luis Rio Colorado Port II, the Area Service
    2. Highway, and other regional concepts such as the CANAMEX corridor, there has been discussion regarding the positive aspects of including Arizona, in particular the Yuma region, in these efforts. “This is an ideal opportunity to learn about what metropolitan planning is taking place in the greater region, and to share our region's own vision for future growth,” says James Stover, Public Affairs Manager for the City of Yuma. These conferences typically include presentations and discussion on the topics of transportation, housing, economic development, and more. For more information on this event, visit http://www.scag.ca.gov and click on the link available in the “Upcoming Events” column, or call James Stover at 928-580-4754. Information on the Southern California Association of Governments is available from Linda Jones, Member Services Officer: jonesl@scag.ca.gov, or: (213) 236- 1912. -END-
