Question 1 Question 1 Presentation Transcript

  • Question1: In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
  • Front Cover Comparison
    My Magazine
    NME Magazine
  • NME Front Cover
This is a magazine produced by NME. NME’s magazine is one that I tried to recreate as my own. This front cover includes:
    • Bold Masthead.
    • Price
    • Gigs.
    • Puffs and Plugs.
    • Cover lines.
    • Bands included in the magazine.
    • Colour theme: black, red and white.
    • Barcode.
    • Two other photographs.
    • Date.
    • Main Photograph.
    • Bold Artist.
    • Main Cover line.
  • My Front Cover
This is the magazine that I have produced. I titled it iMusic. This is what it includes:
    • Masthead.
    • Main Photograph.
    • Cover Lines
    • Bands.
    • Gigs.
    • Puffs and Plugs.
    • Interviews.
    • Festival Tickets
    • Barcode.
    • Date.
    • Main Artist.
    • Main Cover line.
    • Price
    • Colour Scheme: Purple, Black and White.
  • Comparison
My Magazine doesn’t include as many photographs as the NME one does. I didn’t add any little ones as I wanted the main image to be seen and noticed.
NME’s magazine is a lot busier then mine as this is my second magazine I have created and it has improved a lot from my first one.
NME’s colour scheme is black, white and red – simple but affective. My colour scheme is purple, black and white which I also think is simple and affective.
The main images are also in a similar place, roughly the centre but slightly to the right leaving space on the left for cover lines and various things.
  • Why?
I placed my image more to the right of the centre as I then had room to include cover lines on the left. I have placed other things on the right as well but more on the left as most magazines constructions are like this.
My Masthead is placed on the left at the top as well as this draws your eye up there. I placed it in a box so it stood out a lot more as this is what the magazine is called.
  • Contents Page Comparison
    My Contents Page
    Kerrang’s Contents Page
  • My Contents Page
This is my Contents Page that I have created it includes:
    Magazine Name.
    Main Heading.
    Issue Number.
    Sub-headings.
    Page Numbers.
    Photographs.
    Image of Front Cover.
Information of what is in the magazine.
    Colour Scheme.
  • Kerrang Contents Page
This is a contents page produced by Kerrang! It includes:
    Main Heading.
    Sub-headings.
    Page Numbers.
    Photographs.
Information of what is in the magazine.
    Image of the Front Cover.
    Introduction.
    Colour Scheme.
  • Comparison
Mine and Kerrang’s contents page both include a variety of images that are included in the magazine.
My contents page includes the title of the magazine whereas Kerrang doesn’t use this and just has the image of the front cover.
Kerrang’s contents page have an introduction/ paragraph at the top explaining things that will be included in the magazine, I have not included this.
Kerrang’s contents heading is on the right whereas mine is on the left under the magazine name, the images of the front covers are also on opposite corners.
