About the Author
Hi, I’m Jacquelyn Girardot and I’m a senior at Grand Valley. I just changed my major to English about a year ago so I will not be graduating until Winter 2011. I am really enjoying my new set of classes and am looking forward to the near future.
This presentation is designed for a 7 th grade English class who is learning the difference in simple verb tenses.
Feel free to email me:
What is a verb?

When to use the present tense in writing:

Usually formed by adding will or shall in front of the simple form of the verb (these are called “helping” verbs)
Examples of Simple Future Tense
Examples using will and shall:
I will go to Cedar Point next summer.
I shall wait until next year to get a new kitten.
Your Assignment To Go Along With This Presentation
Listen to the Phineas and Ferb clip.
After viewing the short clip, read the lyrics (provided on the next slide) and find all the verbs in the song lyrics and write them in the simple past, present, and future tense.
Hint: Some words are missing in sentences because it’s a song. Please just use the verbs provided on the lyrics page; do not try to separate the contractions.

Listen up people and I'll teach ya’, ‘Bout Phineas and Ferb in the backyard beach-a, Every mornin’ Phineas is gonna say, Brother what you gonna do today? Now you see we’re have fun playing under the sun, Get in line...get in line cause the wet ski’s running, A backyard beach...a backyard beach, Nothing’s out of reach, we’ve got the backyard beach. You can change in the broken hut, Drink out of a coconut, Three games for a token, but the rest is free, You got skiing, parasailing, Surfing and flailing,
You got the whole thing sailing and the rest you can’t see, At the backyard beach...at the backyard beach, Nothing's out of reach we’ve got the backyard beach, The backyard beach...the backyard beach, Don't fall into the breech at the backyard beach!
