Buildings:Mr. Phillip, Principal of St. Mary’s Secondary School was in attendance, to make input. Thediscussion centered on:a. Expansion for the business blockb. Auditoriumc. Home economics & Industrial arts – location which would cause exposure to gas lines going to atop storey; one suggestion was to put the clothing section upstairsd. Administrative block: - the insertion of a counselor’s room since there is no indication of one. Itwas explained…the present space for the Principal’s office and so on remains with repairs –a. Staff room becomes libraryb. principal’s office becomes counselor’s room and sick bayc. new administrative block becomes principal’s office, staff room etc.e. Cistern: there is none underground and the detached cistern is not useable.f. Target school population: the school is small; target is about 300g. Labs: there is a need for 4 different labs; three is adequate, but the fourth can accommodateagricultural science.h. Computer lab: present lab can house 20-25 computersi. Business subjects: POB, POA, EDPM are done. The plan is to have the business block on theSouthern side of the compound.j. Grounds: In light of the recent rains one observesa. Ground is saturatedb. Concerns about testing the soil
  • 2. c. Drainage is poor so the building should be on the other sidek. Suggestions:a. Use columns to support the new structureb. One business room is to be configured to be a labc. Lab taken from science can be a modern language labd. Showers – none in the plan – staff had asked for thate. Guard house with bathroom, for improved security and efficiency of stafff. Air conditioned office, staff rooms, library, media roomg. Consider room for visual artsh. One big staff room instead of several – to foster communication among staffl.
