    • One summer four best friends have to part for the first time ever
    • While the girls help Bridget pack…
    • A pair of seemingly ordinary jeans is discovered…
    • Little did they know, it would change their world FOREVER
    • The jeans magically fit ALL FOUR girls “’These are magic pants’” (18).
    • On their last night together…
    • The girls held a meeting at Gilda’s, where their … mothers met years ago
    • They made a promise to send the Pants to one another during the summer
    • 1. You must never wash the Pants 2. You must never double-cuff the Pants. It’s tacky. There will never be a time when this will not be tacky 3. You must never say the word “phat” while wearing the Pants. You must also never think “I am fat” while wearing the Pants 4. You must never let a boy take off the Pants 5. You must not pick your nose while wearing the Pants. You may, however, scratch casually at your nostril while really kind of picking our reunion, you must follow the proper procedures for 6. Upon documenting your time in the Pants 7. You must write to your Sisters throughout the summer, no matter how much fun you are having without them. 8. You must pass the Pants along to your Sisters according to the specifications set down by the Sisterhood. Failure to comply will result in a severe spanking upon our reunion 9. You must not wear the Pants with a tucked-in shirt and belt. See rule #2. 10. Remember: Pants= love. Love your pals. Love yourself.
    • Bridget is off to Baja California for soccer camp
    • Carmen is spending the summer with her father in South Carolina
    • Lena stays with her Grandparents and sister in Greece, and has the Pants first
    • Tibby is home working at Wallman’s and on a documentary “She’d decided the morning after the vow of the Pants that she was going to record her summer of discontent in a movie- a suckumentary, a pastiche of lameness” (43).
    • In Greece, Lena meets her grandparents family friend, Kostos
    • Away at soccer camp, Bridget has a crush on her off-limits coach, Eric
    • Tibby, while working witnesses a girl collapsed and calls 911
    • Carmen, discovers her dad has a new life with a whole new family. She feels invisible and as a “true” guest “Even in the Pants she was invisible and mute” (179).
    • Tibby becomes friends with Bailey who has leukemia which ends tragically “’I am alive, and she is dead. I have to try to make my life bid. As big as I can. I promised Bailey…’”(288).
    • Lena tries to fall in love with Kostos “…She was sad that people like Bee and kostos, who had lost everything, were still open to love, and she, who’d lost nothing, was not” (221).
    • Carmen runs away when her perfect summer with her dad falls apart.
    • Bridget is let down when Eric won’t give in “’If I could meet you again, at a different time under different circumstances, I could let myself worship you the way you deserve. But I can’t now’” (265).
    • The girls return home sooner then planned after a their summers did not go as planned…
    • The girls make peace and do what’s right and attend Carmen’s fathers wedding as a Sisterhood.
