  2. 2. 1 What is a millennial? - Millennials are the demographic cohort following Generation X (1965-1980). - Researchers and commentators use birth years ranging from the early 1980s to the early 2000s. - Millennials are highly-educated, confident, demanding, goal oriented, burdened by debt, and technologically savvy. - They like immediate and timely recognition and dislike micromanagement. - Millennials are the most racially and ethnically diverse generation (Pew Research). - Being a good parent is one of their top priorities in life (Pew Research). - By 2014, millennials are expected to make up 47% of the workforce.
  3. 3. 2 Myths about millennial loyalty – Millennials will job-hop whenever new opportunities arise – Millennials like to sample different employers for a year or two, then move on to try something else
  4. 4. 3 JLL’s independent research study JLL commissioned an independent study in March, 2014, probing the views of more than 200 millennials.   8. 8. 7 Millennials need growth where there are opportunities to progress and further their careers A job that provides growth and personal development means: – the ability to rise to the highest level of the organization – the ability to be challenged and learn new things on a day to day basis
  9. 9. 8 Millennials need options for ways of working where they can do their work whichever way they prefer A job that provides positive ways of working means: – experiencing autonomy – interacting with a diverse group of people – clients and co-workers – innovating and effecting change in the organization

I have my own team.” “That fact that everyday is something different and the day goes by fast.”
