Christmas Advent for Church - 3rd Sunday Christmas Advent for Church - 3rd Sunday Presentation Transcript

    • Season of Advent The Advent Season is celebrated during the four weeks before Christmas. “Advent” is from a Latin word meaning “coming” or “arrival”.
    • During Advent we celebrate the coming or arrival of Jesus Christ. The light from the Advent candles, which grows brighter each Sunday, reminds us Jesus is the light of the world . “ I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
    • Each Advent Sunday is celebrated with the lighting of a special candle. 1 st Sunday – Candle of Hope 2 nd Sunday – Candle of Peace 3 rd Sunday – Candle of Joy 4 th Sunday – Candle of Love A white candle, the Christ Candle, is lit on Christmas Eve.
    • This 3 rd Advent Sunday we will light the Candle of Joy!
    • The angel said, “Fear not, for I bring you good tidings of great joy , that will be for all the people.”
    • “ For unto you is born this day in the city of David A Savior who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
    • Jesus is the true joy of Christmas. The Lord wants our joy to be full. It is the joy of new life in Him.
    • As the angel said, these good tidings of great joy are for all the people. Let us celebrate our joy in Christ by sharing these good tidings of great joy to others this Christmas .
