  • 1. GENESIS 8:15-22
  • 2.  In the first half of the chapter, Moses records the issues with the Flood and how the Flood came to an end. ◦ Of course, we know how God sent out a raven and a dove (he sent out the dove three times). ◦ Finally, the dove did not come back.  Noah then “removed the covering of the ark and looked” (v 13).  He then saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
  • 3.  God spoke to Noah and told him to “go out of the ark” (v 16). ◦ Why did Noah wait until God told him to leave the ark? ◦ Is it difficult to wait for God to act?  Is 40:31.  What does it really mean to “wait on the LORD”?  How can we best wait on God?  God tells Noah to take all the animals off the ark “so that they may abound on the earth” (v 17). ◦ Why was it important for the animals to replenish the earth? ◦ What role do animals properly play in our lives?
  • 4.  Noah built an altar to the LORD and offered of every clean animal and every clean bird (v 20). ◦ Why would Noah sacrifice to the LORD? ◦ What role should worship play in our lives? ◦ What role should thanksgiving play in worship?  What was the soothing aroma God smelled (v 21)? ◦ Why might Moses have recorded that this was a “soothing aroma”? ◦ In other words, this sacrifice was “soothing” compared to what?
  • 5.  “The imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (v 21). ◦ If this is true, why do we not teach original sin? ◦ How is the imagination of man’s heart evil from his youth?
