  • 9. Technology and Standards E -mature teachers need software that is fit for purpose, robust and adaptable to their needs. We are trialling software that is intended to build on best practice. We are seeking to create standards that will guide development, application and procurement. Our work seeks to provide benchmarks for teachers and their mentors on effective learning and support. Strategy and Policy The Te-PNI project seeks to integrate with and inform professional development and e-learning policy initiatives in the UK and beyond. Our vision, to give teachers online tools to support their learning, seeks to contribute to local and national thinking. Central to this aim, however, is the need to maintain quality of provision at all levels. Partnerships A fully integrated and portable career-long and career-wide Teacher e-Portfolio A unique feature of our work is that it has brought together the many organisations and agencies involved in teacher lifelong learning. Relationships have been established with some key UK agencies but our aim is to develop these into real working partnerships where learning is shared and joint projects are developed. Teaching & Learning E-portfolios must produce real improvements in practice for all Northern Ireland’s mandatory professional development activities. Thus, the main focus of this project is to create opportunities for innovative effective practice in teacher learning and support. Such innovation needs broad consensus among all professionals.
