  • WorldCat Local includes features that can help you centralize users’ access to the all the electronic, digital and physical content you provide—in a single, streamlined user experience, and centralize some staff internal workflows required to manage it. WorldCat Local’s extensive integrated central index plus meta search makes every resource accessible homogeneously. Replaces the need for a meta-search feature.
  • DataThe Central Index consists of:The WorldCat database, continually enriched with contributions from member libraries worldwide. (Includes digital collections harvested via the WorldCat Digital Collection Gateway.) Licensed content contributed through data feeds from content providersThe WorldCat knowledge baseCollection, title and linking data are supplied and continually updated through data feeds from content providersApplications & services- Users interact with the user interface to find items of interest. - Search results from the central index are presented in a single relevance-ranked result set Live availability for physical items is displayed through interoperation with the local library management system Integrated link resolution uses collection subscription information and link syntax from the WorldCat knowledge base to provide ‘View Now’ links to electronic content on provider platforms.
  • The content inWorldCat Local comes from your library and the WorldCat Local Central index. The Central Index combines the power of WorldCat with its’ 1.9 billion holdings and adds additional licensed and digital content access to it to provide your users access to more than 1 billion items. But it’s more than just books and articles. As you can see WorldCat Local provides access to a wide variety of materials. With over 775 million articles, more than 14 million e-books as well as institutional repositories and archival collections it is truly becoming THE source for discovery and delivery of ALL your library’s content.[Note: content updates as of 18 January 2013]
  • Mobile access with no extra software, development or integration
  • Using this to illustrate how easy it is to access this type of data with Adobe SiteCatalyst.
  • Why JSTOR?- Collections / subscribed content has remained static throughoutGood linking and integration between WCL and JSTOR- One of our most popular resources across many disciplines
  • Why ACLS?- Fairly static collection (404 books added in July 2012 = grown by 10%)We have subscribed for a number of years, so can measure growth consistentlyGrowth can also be attributed to increasing promotion by library staff, and interest by academics in using e-resources with students, but the high level of growth likely to be increased visibility through WCL.
