  • Technology Integration is the use of technology tools in general content areas in education in order to allow students to apply computer and technology skills to learning and problem-solving. From Wikipedia
  • What Technology Integration is not:
    • Taking students to the computer lab once a week for 40 minutes
    • Using the computer as an electronic worksheet
    • Using the computer as a reward station for students who are finished with their other assignments
  • What Technology Integration is:
    • Part of the daily routine taking place in the classroom
    • Supporting and extending curriculum objectives in a flawless manner
    • Engaging students in meaningful learning
    • Enabling students to show what they have learned in new and creative ways
  • Traditional vs. Integrated Classrooms

    • Inactive learning

    • Delivering of information
    • Student centered
    • Active learning
    • Multi-media
    • Exchanging of information
  • Why use technology in the classroom?
    • Teaching that stresses active participation helps students process and maintain information
    • It promotes deeper thinking
  • What technology is available?
    • SmartBoard
      • Students are able to go to the board and actively participate in an activity by touching the SmartBoard
      • Countless activities built into the Smart Notebook software and pre-made activities are available on Smart Exchange and other sites on the web
