    3. 2009 Innovation Awards The Itanium Solutions Alliance invites developers, enterprises, small and midsized business and research institutions from around the world to earn highly visible recognition for their work developed on Itanium-based systems. The third-annual Itanium Solutions Alliance Innovation Awards is an independently judged, worldwide competition that culminates in an exciting awards celebration during the Intel Developer Forum, September 23rd, 2009 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Awards Categories Mission-Critical Data: When failure is not an option, Itanium-based systems blend business-critical reliability and availability with performance and scalability to drive the most data-intensive applications. This category recognizes the success organizations have delivered by implementing a database, data warehousing, or line-of-business solution that takes advantage of the dependability and performance of Itanium-based platforms. Data Center Modernization: Itanium-based systems are the scalable, economical alternative to mainframes. This category highlights the success of projects in which an organization has migrated from a mainframe-based infrastructure to an open architecture framework to employ the reliability, availability and serviceability of Itanium-based systems. Awards Categories Computationally Intensive Applications: With massive memory capacity and enormous scalability, Itanium-based systems deliver the maximum horsepower when time-to-results is of utmost importance. This category recognizes organizations that have applied their Itanium systems to tackle huge, critical workloads that demand consistently high performance and scalable shared resources.     6. 2009 Innovation Awards The winner in each category receives industry acclaim, international publicity, a chance to network with top Intel and Sponsor executives, and an attractive trophy. In addition, each winner will receive a Flash-based video featuring his or her winning solution for promotional purposes, and be prominently featured in an active campaign that showcases their solution. One category, Humanitarian Impact, includes a $50,000 cash awards for the winning submission. Past winners of the Itanium Solutions Alliance Innovation Awards comprise diverse organizations from many regions across the globe. Developers, enterprises, small and midsized business and research institutions are all strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to earn highly visible recognition for their work on Itanium-based systems.     8. 2009 Innovation Awards Celebration The 2009 Innovation Awards Celebration will be held September 23, 2009, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and coincides with the Intel Developer Forum being held at the Moscone Center. As one of the world's leading museums of modern and contemporary art, SFMOMA is a striking and sophisticated setting for events of all kinds -- as well as the best of modern and contemporary art. At the celebration, Innovation Award finalists as well as other industry leaders in enterprise and technical computing will gather for hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and live music as we honor innovation and achievement in solving organizational challenges using Intel Itanium technology.
