  2. 2. Eva Collins<br />Eva Collins is an HR Administrator at WCSCU. Last week Eva met with Heather Jenkins, the HR Manager, to discuss setting up a Career, Health and Wellness area on The Buzz Intranet.<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  3. 3. Welcome to the BuzzThe intranet site for West Coast Savings Credit Union<br />Eva brings up The Buzz to build the new sub-site for the intranet<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  4. 4. Building the Sub-Site<br />Eva begins by entering the Buzz admin site and clicks to create a new Department Site, giving it the name of “Career, Health and Wellness”<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  5. 5. Securing the Sub-Site<br />Eva secures the new sub-site so end users won’t be able to see it until Heather has signed-off on it. <br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  6. 6. Creating the Navigation Menu<br />Eva uses the navigation tool from the Application Toolbox<br />Eva selects applications that will be added as the sub-site navigation. One click and each application is created in seconds<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  7. 7. Employee Services<br />Eva adds a documents application for “Employee Services” to store policies, procedures, and forms for the credit union’s medical, dental, 401K plans<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  8. 8. Job Center<br />Next she selects a dedicated Jobs application for HR to post new job opportunities within the organization and for employees to apply with their online resumes<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  9. 9. Career Workshops<br />Eva adds a Training and Registration system that will allow employees to sign up for career development courses<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  10. 10. Community Events<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />Community Events will be the site’s Calendar tool<br />Shows internal and external upcoming community events<br />Open publishing so end users can add their own events<br />

  12. 12. Earthquake Safety<br />Eva adds a Blog to the site that will focus on safety procedures and earthquake preparedness for all the CU branches<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />

Mash-up of Information<br />Eva adds a widget to the home page that shows a mash-up of the latest content published to each of the site’s applications<br />Eva sets the widget listing to show the top 6 advertised items from the various applications<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />

Calendar Feed<br />Heather wants to be able to see all the upcoming month’s events from the site’s home page<br />Eva pulls in a feed from the Community Events Calendar and chooses the mini-calendar format<br />She places the mini-calendar below the navigation menu<br />The widget automatically rotates every month, showing new events as they are added<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  17. 17. Content Feeds<br />Eva adds a content feed from the Employee Services area<br />It automatically pulls the latest documents and forms that are added to the application<br />Content does not need to be advertised to be displayed<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />

External RSS Feed & Links<br />Eva pulls in an RSS feed from a leading industry blog<br />This will keep employees up to date with thought leaders in the credit union sector<br />Eva also builds a content box with links to other popular credit union blogs and resources<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />

Message Boxes<br />Eva adds two message boxes to the home page<br />One to announce the goal of the Careers, Health and Wellness site<br />The other to display herself as the manager of the site in case employees want to contact her with questions or feedback<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
  20. 20. Instant Messaging<br />“Not bad for one afternoon of work” thinks Eva as she uses chat to send Heather a link to the new Careers, Health and Wellness site she created for the Buzz.<br />http://blogs.intranetconnections.com<br />
