  1. 1. FlorEcuador® -Social Environmental Certificate • FlorEcuador is the Social-Environmental program that ® determines standards for the certification of fresh cut flower and foliage production systems in Ecuador. • Year 2005 – First inspection: October 27 – 2005 • Expoflores determined that all its associates have to implement and comply FlorEcuador standards to maintain its membership.
  2. 2. FlorEcuador® -Why having our own certification program? • Low coverage of other certifications. International certification programs have 50 certified farms (the most). FlorEcuador® is already being complied by 117 farms and 78 more farms in progress, total 195 farms. • Less cost. (Certification fee + inspection) for certification and logo use fees + audits. (FlorEcuador® certification cost is in most cases 50% or less of the cost of any certification) • Local law and regulations. Other certifications do not consider national laws and regulations for social and environmental issues.
