  2. 2. A lot of people complain that they have backaches or that their spine feels really heavy. This is a very common ailment among people above thirty years old. However, it is not a good idea to take drugs in this situation because of the side effects medicine can cause. That is why there are a few methods for back pain relief.
  3. 3.  Now when someone is suffering from this kind of ache, more often than not, the main problem lies within the posture of that person. People who frequently complain about backaches are usually the ones who are always slouching or arching their spine. So the first thing to do is to get used to sitting up straight all the time. Believe it or not, the occurrences of pains will lessen if one does this.
  4. 4.  Sometimes sitting up straight does not work straight away. So if the pain is too unbearable, then one way to ease it is to use a cold or hot compress. This soothes the ache and allows one to continue doing his daily routines with more ease.
  5. 5.  However, a compress cannot exactly cure the pain because it only lessens the internal swelling. So the next best thing to do is to get a massage. Masseurs deal with these kinds of complaints every day. Having a good massage will loosen the cramped muscles of the back and take away the stress. This will relieve the backache.
  6. 6.  Inthe long run, the best thing to do for these kinds of pains is to begin a regular program of exercise. Of course choosing the right kind of exercise is important because a workout that is too heavy and strenuous will just make it worse. Some light exercise routines like Tai Chi or Yoga which encourage slow, flowing movements and flexibility are great in preventing the occurrence of back discomfort.
  7. 7.  Now if the pain still pursues, then one has no choice but to pay a visit to the doctor. Usually the doctor would provide some painkillers or suggest therapy to the patient, but only do this if it is too painful to bear. If it can be healed naturally, then it would be better.
  8. 8.  So these are some very simple methods of back pain relief. It is always better not to take medication for this ailment because there could be some adverse effects. Besides, these simple methods are proven to work for a lot of people most of the time.
