GROMACS is a versatile package to perform molecular dynamics. It is
primarily designed for biochemical molecules like proteins, lipids and
nucleic acids that have a lot of complicated bonded interactions. And
because GROMACS is extremely fast at calculating the non-bonded
interactions (that usually dominate simulations), many groups are also
using it for research on non-biological systems, e.g. polymers.

Editor's Notes
KEY MESSAGE: We are happy to announce 20 new world records on our new Intel Xeon processor E7 v3-based offerings from our partners. Faster transaction speeds, accelerated operations, and greater throughput performance translate to real-time business responsiveness, quick results, and increased productivity over previous generations.
TALKING POINTS
Given the previous platform improvements discussed in the previous slide, it is no surprise that the next generation Intel Xeon processor E7 family stands out above all other architectures (including recapturing the 8-Processor crown from IBM POWER8 on the very common compute yardstick benchmark SPECint*_rate2006) in delivered performance with 20 new industry-standard benchmark world records from a six of our partners. The benchmarks represented a wide variety of vertical and usage models from decision support/analytics leading to business intelligence, to on-line transaction processing (OLTP) with scalable database back-ends for handling peak workloads, to virtualization machine consolidation for lower operational expenses, to enterprise resource planning (ERP) business processing for higher productivity to other workloads that represent general compute needs.
MORE DETAILS
As of May 05, 2015 - 20 Total Records representing OEM solutions between 2- and 8-Processors with higher socket counts coming soon
Six OEMs represented: Cisco, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Huawei, & Lenovo
Benchmarks cover key Intel Xeon processor E7 targeted segments:
Business Analytics/Decision Support
SAP HANA* Business Warehouse-Enhanced Mixed Load (BW-EML) at up to 2 Billion initial records
TPC-H* @ 3TB and 10TB on SQL Server* 2014

Key Message: What may seem as challenges to an organization today may actually be Business Opportunities for tomorrow’s growth.
This presentation highlights how Intel continues to provide great products and solutions to help organizations overcome today’s challenges and transform those challenges into potential New Business Opportunities and offer New Services to their Customers
Notes from Red Hat:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the leading commercial Linux distribution, and the leading contributor to the Linux kernel, works very closely with Intel to enable and tune each Xeon platform before public launch. Systems are enabled for bare metal, virtualization and Cloud deployments. Support for Mission Critical applications hosted on RHEL demands advanced error reporting such as PCIe-AER, new I/O technologies such as PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0, advanced management capabilities such as ACPI 5.0 and advanced monitoring capabilities such as Performance Monitoring Unit (PMU). Red Hat and Intel engineers work very closely to enable and support these features as quickly as possible. All of these features are complemented by the NUMA and RAS features in RHEL & in KVM. Customers demand CPU hotplugging for bare metal and virtualization—Check! Live snapshotting, live migration—Check!
Security is paramount in the enterprise and the explosive growth of virtualization and Cloud brings this to a whole new level. In addition to the military grade security, SELinux, which was co-developed by the National Security Agency and Red Hat, Intel and Red Hat have partnered to deliver additional security technologies in RHEL such as Intel Trusted Execution Technology and UEFI Secure boot. RHEL takes this one step further and will be the only known hypervisor vendor to have guests be able to use Random Number Generators to increase the entropy of a virtual machine and offload the host to do more work.
Scalability and Performance are never a question with RHEL or KVM. Scalability in RHEL-- 4096 CPUs & 64 TB of memory, provide tremendous overhead for any enterprise. Are you heavily virtualized? KVM can not only deliver the largest number of guests in a host, but also support up to 160 virtual CPUs, 2 TB of memory and 1024 disks!
Networking is a critical part of every deployment. RHEL has partnered with Intel and innovating in areas such as Data Center Bridging (DCB) and Edge Virtual Bridging (EVB) which were introduced in RHEL in 2010. Red Hat and Intel also collaborated on Single Root I/O Virtualization and first delivered this capability to the market in 2009. Some hypervisor vendors have just introduced this in their products – 4 years after RHEL!
Storage is an integral part of every server deployment, Intel and Red Hat partnered to be the first to deliver Intel Rapid Storage Technology in a Linux distribution. Red Hat, a prime innovator in the virtualization arena, also partnered with the Linux community to provide scalable storage solutions for virtual machines based on KVM and delivered key scalable solutions such as virtio-scsi.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux: the leading commercial Open Source Platform, key Intel partner and a technology innovator in the Open Source community!

Workload Introduction
The SAS mixed analytic workload represents the type of SAS processing that roughly 60% of SAS customers do today. This workload created a multi-user benchmarking scenarios to simulate the workload of a typical Foundation SAS or Base SAS / STAT customer. The goal of these scenarios is to evaluate the multi-user performance of SAS on various platforms. Various sized mixed analytic workloads were created to simulate many users utilizing CPU, RAM and I/O resources which SAS programs heavily utilize during typical program execution. The test was designed to mimic this workload and be scaled to represent different sized customer environments. In this specific case, 60 sessions of the workload are used.
