  • 3. Angle Sensor based on integrated Magneto Resistive (ixMR) Technologies Infineon Angle Sensors ixMR Technologies GMR  The sensor detects the orientation of an applied magnetic field by measuring sine and cosine angle components with monolithically integrated magneto resistive elements  Magneto resistive technology is now widely used in automotive applications such as Steering angle, Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Throttle AMR Hexternal M  I Permalloy 80% Ni / 20% Fe  Inplane sensitivity  High sensitivity  Low Jitter  3600 angle range  For fields up to 80mT  Monolithically integrated in CMOS, BiCMOS Copyright © Infineon Technologies AG 2013. • 4. Infineon´s ixMR technology is fast and robust against Mechanical Tolerances Improved tolerance to misalignment High speed 2013-06-26 The ixMR element senses a field’s direction, not intensity. Variations in field intensity within the sensor’s range therefore have minimal impact on angle accuracy The area sensitive to ixMR is very small. Therefore it is easier to keep it within the homogenous zone of the magnetic field in case of small mechanical failure. Infineon Angle Sensor Low Sensitivity to air gap variation ixMR technology is extremely fast. Its speed is not limited by the reaction time of the MR element but by delay in the amplifier circuit Copyright © Infineon Technologies AG 2013. All rights reserved. Page 4
