At a Glance: • 3,109 Primary Health Centres cater to the population of over 6.5 lakh villages in India • 50% of all villagers have no access to healthcare providers. • WHO estimates over 2.6 million people died in South East Asia in 2008 from various conditions. • For example, India had only around 1000 reported malaria deaths in 2008. • However, when the entire SE Asian region is taken the number of estimated malaria deaths is 43,200. Now this region has a total population of 1.3 billion and India had an estimated population of 1.15 billion in 2008. • So we’re assuming that 88% of all deaths caused by these diseases are in India. • We’re assuming of 2,656,686 deaths in SE Asia, 2,125,348 occurred in India. • It’s extremely sad that so many Indians are losing their lives to diseases and conditions that could’ve been easily avoided with the most basic of healthcare services. Why INDIAN MEDICAL SYSTEM needs to be REVAMPED?

Overview • Providing handy Information regarding Hospitals, Medical stores and Clinics in vicinity •Development phases of solution Proposed : • Collection of data of Medical clinics, stores and Hospitals by Local Government Body on the basis of valid Medical License Information PHASE 0 Building Database • IVRS- To provide instant information to any user via any ordinary phone • Smartphone App- Provides you with all the required information based on current location faster than IVRS PHASE I Mobile App & IVRS • Smart system to ensure regular service by local medical agencies using affordable biometric devices • Ensure availability of doctors during working hours using biometric devices PHASE II Treatment Monitoring

Phase 0 : Constructing a Segregated Database Collection of data of Medical clinics and Hospitals by the Local Government Body in each region, on the basis of valid Medical Licenses as under the Indian medical council act, 1956. Collection of data of Medical stores on the basis of Medical Licenses under the Pharmacy Act, 1956. Steps Involved : • Distribution of registration forms to all clinics , dispensaries and medical stores which would require information regarding name , address and License Number to bring the database up-to-date. • Submission of filled forms at Local Government Body office. • Verification and Obtaining of GPS location of the centre address by a medical volunteer. •Each hospital/store/clinic will be given a unique ID, based on the Pin Code. • Tagging the location on Google Maps for the Smartphone App by the medical volunteer.
  5. 5. • Setting up an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), which is a technology that allows a computer to interact with humans through the use of voice and tones input via phone keypad. • The segregated database will be used by the IVRS for providing information required by the user. • IVRS would prompt the user to enter his/her Pin Code and based on the Pin Code it would retrieve information regarding the hospitals/stores/clinics using the segregated database. • The IVRS would prompt the user until his query is completed and returns the relevant information. For example, complete information regarding the nearest ENT specialist which includes the location ,availability. Phase 1:Providing Information
  6. 6. • Creating Smartphone Application gives access to the dataset segregated in Phase 0 to the user based on his location. •The location of the nearest hospital/Drug Store would be based on PIN Code provided by the user. •The Google maps will the retrieve the path based on tagging done at time of registration in Phase 0. •App has an unique UI that enables user to obtain relevant results based on their selection of body organ. (e.g. app will suggest all nearest ophthalmologist if the user selects eye) Phase 1:Providing Information Feeds PINCODE Search results Call IVRS Provide Specific Results
  7. 7. Phase 2 : Ensuring Availability • Installing a bio-metric device at each Heath center for ensuring proper and consistent service from the Doctors/ Medical staff to the citizens. Complaint on Attendance Absence • The biometric device shall store the attendance record of the doctors (the doctors shall have to sign-in and sign-out on the biometric device using the Right Hand Thumb as they arrive and leave the clinic) . This data shall be sent to a server which shall be under the supervision of the Local Medical officer
  8. 8. • As the patient shall arrive at the clinic , if he experiences the absence of the required doctor, he will use the biometric device to lodge a complaint at the local server. • Having done that , if he doesn't receive the required treatment within a span of 2 hours or so, the complaint shall get permanently registered. All complaints will be reviewed by local Medical Head weekly for constant surveillance. • On the contrary , if he receives the required treatment within the prescribed timespan, he would reuse the biometric device along with the doctor who administered the treatment, which would nullify the previous complaint against the center. The striking positive features of the proposed health drive: • Increase in accessibility to the primary health centers. • A way to curb the malpractices in the health sectors by nabbing the fake doctors and goons selling fraudulent medicines in the remote areas of the country. • Availability of instant medical support in cases of accidents by trauma centers in the vicinity. • Awareness regarding the various categories in medical facility available in remote areas. • Integration of health facilities of the nation under one common database providing a sustainable model for development in primary heath and reduction in rates of infant and child mortality. CONCLUSION Concept risks: 1. This initiative would require regular funding of money for updating of data and maintenance of system installed. 2. Reaching out to every corner of nation would be challenging and real applicability of this venture lies in remote places.
