Smarter Cities Planning and management Long-term insights based on comprehensive data analysis, followed up through efficient daily management, help a city stay vital and safe for its citizens and businesses. Infrastructure Fundamental services—such as roadways, mass transit and utilities—make a city desirable and livable, but the key to keeping them viable is readiness for constant change. Human Smarter cities use the system of systems to their advantage when supporting the needs of each citizen through social programs, healthcare and education. Infrastructure. Operations. People. What makes a city? The answer, of course, is all three. A city is an interconnected system of systems. A dynamic work in progress, with progress as its watchword. A tripod that relies on strong support for and among each of its pillars, to become a smarter city for all. Smarter cities drive sustainable economic growth and prosperity for their citizens. Their leaders have the tools to analyze data for better decisions, anticipate problems to resolve them proactively and coordinate resources to operate effectively.

While green buildings are constructed using sustainable materials, smarter buildings are designed to run more efficiently and, more importantly, communicate with and about their various systems. With the unprecedented proliferation of smart sensors and control systems over the last decade, many buildings have the ability to measure, sense and see the exact condition of practically everything in them. But these systems operate independently, through a mix of vendors, and with different protocols and transport mechanisms. They also advance and mature at different rates. Understanding a building from a holistic point of view requires collaboration between facilities and IT organizations at new levels and creates the need for new transformational skills in organizations or businesses.
  4. 4. POWER For decades, power was something the average person did not think much about. Concentrated Solar Power Towers Commercial applications Recently, there has been a renewed interest in solar tower power technology, as is evident from the fact that there are several companies involved in planning, designing and building utility size power plants. This is an important step towards the ultimate goal of developing commercially viable plants. There are numerous example of case studies of applying innovative solution to solar power. The solar power tower, also known as 'central tower' power plants or power plants or power towers, is a type of using a tower to receive the focused sunlight. It uses an array of flat, movable mirrors (called heliostats) to focus the sun's rays upon a collector tower (the target). Concentrated solar thermal is seen as one viable solution for renewable, pollution free energy.

It has been a leading driver behind globalization: shrinking distances, seeding the emergence of entire new economies and improving the quality of life for millions of people. Yet many of our transportation systems are inadequate to serve the needs of the 21st century. By integrating technology and intelligence into the physical transportation infrastructure, we can improve capacity, enhance the traveler experience and make our transportation systems more efficient, safe, and secure.   7. 7. PUBLIC SAFETY Analyzing patterns for safer cities What do the greatest crimefighters have in common? Whether they're on our streets or in our literature, they know how to get inside a criminal's mind, and they seem to have a sixth sense that points out the next emergency hot spot before an event occurs. With data collection happening everywhere for all kinds of purposes, real-life problem solvers have new ways to enhance their intuition. For solutions to everything from traffic tie-ups to security breeches, public safety agencies can gather disparate, voluminous data and use analytics to derive new insights and uncover trends before they become systemic issues or criminal events.

Worldwide, cities account for: • 50% of the global population • 75% of global electricity consumption • 300 million lights Street lighting improves safety and security, helps users find their way, and highlights important features in the urban landscape. In short, our systems are ideally suited for today’s urban environment.
