Remi Nicole interview by vogue!REMI NICOLE is a name you have probably heard if you are a reader of celebrity weeklies and one you will definitely have heard if you are a fan of soulful indie pop. Best known in fashion circles as member of the coolest crew in town - featuring Alexa Chung, Agyness Deyn and Henry Holland - Nicole holds her own in the style stakes."I would agree my style is quite boyish and pretty much has a casual element to it most of the time," Nicole told VOGUE.COM of her comparison to friends Alexa and Agyness. "I could not live without jeans and my brown Topshop brogues!"This year will see the release of the critically-acclaimed Cupid Shoot Me on August 31 - an album of songs about "not being in love", Nicole explains. The girls were really friendly and had lots to talk about because of their busy schedule! The girls attended Cathy Cassidy’s best friend day last Saturday and have been busy since doing lots of interviews. The 27th of July is the release of their debut single ‘Keep your head up’ and also the night that they support The Saturdays! The girls have uploaded videos on to their official website www.girlscantcatch.com behind the scenes from their video shoot and messages from the girls. They are running a few competitions on their site at the moment, one to win a phone call from them (if you post the most comments around the site) and one to win a pair of tickets to see them at the iTunes festival (if you answer a series of 5 questions they have been posting up correctly). Mini VivaMini Viva have now finished their tour with The Saturdays and they are currently getting ready for the launch of their new single ‘Left my heart in Tokyo’. Mini Viva formed last year and received attention with the Fred Falke remixes of their single. The remixes were released last October on the new London-based label World’s Finest Records. Since then, the song has also been remixed by Treasure Fingers and Acid Girls.

"We've got a pop sound but with a slightly darker edge," says raven-haired Phoebe. "And we're all so different," interrupts a freshly-cropped Daizy. "Phoebe's a bit of a rebel, Jess is a sweet girl with a real street style and I'm a bit of a vamp – in a nice way, of course!" "The thing about all of us is we've all done different things but as soon as we got together it all finally started slotting into place," says Daizy. "We all share leads and our vocals blend really well," adds Jess. "It's like we've been singing together forever. Girls can’t catch Review!!Girls Can’t Catch– “Keep your head up”Take three young feisty girls with fresh sounds and an amazing song called ‘Keep your head up’ is produced. The music video is a blend of glam (the girls) meeting grit (the setting) as the girls set about defeating three scoundrels in a game of croquet. This song is catchy, addictive, much like electropop with extraordinary vocals especially towards the end when all the voices are compiled over each other. They sound like a mixture of The Saturdays, Girls Aloud and Rihanna, and have powerful voices just like them. This song is punchy and positive and is written by IvorNovello winner Chris Braide who has recently hit the charts with James Morrison. They have a pop sound but with a slightly darker edge according to Phoebe and they are all vocally different which makes this song very interesting and varied! The chorus is great with the fizzy delight of the ‘Keep your head up-up-up-up-up-up’ refrain is a nice touch. The song is about keeping your head up, hence the title, about being confident, not taking notice of other people’s opinions of you and doing what you believe in no matter what. This song definitely has summer hit potential and I’m glad to see that pop is back!Read what Phoebe thinks of their song:"Keep Your Head Up feels like our theme tune at the moment," says Phoebe. An interview with…Which artists are an inspiration to you and why?I think Beyonce’s the best - she’s flawless. I will never be like her because I can’t sing like that, I can’t dance like that, and I don’t put enough weight on my thighs or bum to be like that. But I would endeavour always to have the professionalism that she has. Describe yourself in three words:If I were to describe myself in three words it would be Remi Nicole Wilson. That’s my name and that’s everything about me. If you weren’t singing or acting, what would you be doing career wise?I don’t know what I’d be doing. Luckily for the past three years that’s what I’ve been doing. Did you always want to sing and act?I did performing arts at college, I did acting at drama school and then I got into singing, so for the past 10 years for sure. What is your new single, ‘Standing Tears Apart’ about?Standing Tears Apart is about a conversation I had with a friend where I was really upset. I’m not the sort of girl that cries, I never really let my emotions out, and she told me that if I ever wanted to cry we could go into a room somewhere and cry. No one would know which is ideal for me. How would you describe your personal style?My personal style is very comfortable. If I’m not comfortable I’m not happy. Jeans – always a winner. Skirts or dresses with pockets are like my heaven. I always need a pocket because I'm obsessed with Vaseline and it needs to go into a pocket because I can’t be bothered to fish through my handbag. What was your experience like of T4 on the beach?It was the best because I’m obsessed with Hollyoaks. It’s my vice. I don’t do much naughty and I don’t watch bad TV, but Hollyoaks is my one true love. I got to meet all of the cast when I went to T4 on the beach and they were fans of mine. It was awesome. How excited are you about releasing your new album?I’m so excited about releasing my new album because so much hard work has gone into it. It was such a different experience to my first album. It was the most fun to make and I really hope it’s going to be the most fun to release. What was the best thing about being at school?The best part of being at school was seeing your friends every day. When you’re an adult you don’t get to see your friends every day but when you’re at school you get to hang out with them every single day and sometimes after school.

Go to the back of the store coz no one ever goes there you might find some hidden gems7. This is a great time to get your summer holiday wardrobe 8. This is great time to shop not only for clothes and shoes but for electrical goods too!9. If in doubt leave it out!10. DONT MAKE A MESS!! Be considerate to other customers and sales staff. If something falls on the floor then pick it up.11. Internet check online too, you might have found a cheaper price 12. Wear simple clothes that you can change really quick to avoid long queues at the fitting rooms13. Shop for an occasion but don’t get side tracked. Don’t get too hung up on sizes If you like something and its a size too big then try it on anyway coz you never know it might be just what your looking for, and you can always alter it with a safety pin of take the hem up if necessary This is a great time to buy books and text books for school /college and uni.
