What is a Graphic Scribe?

A Graphic Scribe
records communication with graphic images, cartoons and text.

This free flowing form of capturing thoughts with pictures and text is a powerful tool to revisit ideas that get forgotten after the meeting is over.

Here I am providing Graphic Scribe services to record a strategic planning meeting.

My services work in tandem with the facilitator. It is in real time and captures key concepts for participants.

Participants enjoy strong, effective meetings when they are seeing multiple forms of visual media.

In this particular case, the services I provided expanded a four hour time period and captured two "sessions.“ The first was introducing ‘tools.’

The facilitator was thrilled with my work and said that I had captured everything he wanted to deliver. I love high praises!

I listen deeply to the facilitator and group discussions to synthesize the material while providing a free flowing stream of visual interpretation for later reference.

Once the first session was completed, the 4' x 8' graphic recording was moved to the back of the room for attendees to have easy access.

During this next session, attendees had returned from a breakout session to discuss what each person felt was an area that needed discussion.

Capturing the free flowing thoughts will be extremely helpful to participants when they meet to review their meeting and make future plans.

After the ideas have been captured, action items are listed for future planning meetings.

These graphic illustrations and text blocks will trigger thoughts and memories when once again visited by the participant.
