Nacho Internship Review
Nacho did a fantastic job during his internship here at Pellettieri Associates.
Nacho set out gain experience in the following concentrations:
1- Design Development and Office Administration
2- Construction Methods
3- Garden Maintenance Operations
There was also a request to spend some time estimating a landscape, and exploring how a medium sized landscape company
markets their company.
To begin, we should note Nacho waspunctual and communicated with professional composure allthroughout his internship. He
was always attentive, asked questions, took notes, and approached challenges with critical thinking and analysis.
To begin, Nacho worked as part of our construction team, gaining experience building various landscape components. During
this time, he also gained insight into the management of daily operations such as scheduling, vehicle maintenance, job site
preparations, and task management. Some of the tasks Nacho was exposed to and participated in include:
Landscape Lighting
Patio Installation and Preparations
Planting
Loaming, Fine Grading and Seeding
Skid Steer Loader Operation/ Truck Driving
Subcontractor Relations and Quality Control
Pre-Construction Job Site Review
Nacho was well received by the field staff, and his strong work ethic and positive attitude allowed him to work well with
others. When asked to complete a new task, Nacho would approach the task with the skills he had, and request leadership and
training when confronted with a challenge. Nacho excelled in all field operations.
Nacho also spend some time working alongside our gardening staff conducting fall clean ups, cutting back flower gardens, and
prepared gardens for winter preparations. Heaccomplished all tasks as requested and was well received by thegardening crew.
Lastly, Nacho was able to shadow one of our project managers in the office (Chris Kessler). During this time, Nacho was able to
provide assistance designing a landscape here in our office. He gained exposure to the following tasks:
Site Analysis
Brainstorming and Conceptual Design Development
Design Development and Group Critique
Final Design Development and Spatial Layout
Take-Offs and Material Estimation
Sales Estimate
Nacho did a great job, while in the design office. I was most impressed by his ability to stay focused and work independently. He
took directions and accomplished many of the tasks with little assistance.
In summary, Nacho excelled as an intern. During his time here, he not only gained valuable skills in the landscape field, but he
also displayed his ability to succeed in a professional setting. If it is any measure of success, Nacho has been invited to return
as an employee, whenever he like.
