REEPworld (www.reepworld.org) is designed specifically for beginning level, low literacy adult English language learners and provides level-appropriate,
self-directed web-based activities that target lifeskill areas, while also preparing students to use the Internet as a tool for learning and participating in their communities! REEPworld is an EL/Civics
grant-funded project of the Arlington Education and Employment Program (REEP) in Arlington, Virginia, that offers, free and without a login, web-based, multimedia-rich lessons containing original narratives, written by veteran teachers, that are pedagogically sequenced to instruct on a variety of
topics and promote critical thinking skills and language development in all skill areas. The result is a unique and truly engaging learning experience for
students. REEPworld's navigation tools are
simple and clear, and its lessons have been piloted with adult ESL students. The presenter will demonstrate how teachers can support students' self-directed use of REEPworld, as well as how to integrate the growing collection of instructional materials available to teachers to solidify REEPworld's content in classroom
instruction.
