  2. 2. What to Expect: General Tips• Dress comfortably. Just aswith other conferences,you may want to bring asweater in case you getchilled in the airconditioning.• Wear comfortable shoes.There will be some walkingdaily.• If you are physicallychallenged, please contactBrenda Reed, breed@ista-in.org, for information.• Bring your credential withyou. You will receive this inthe mail from NEA.• Arrival: Plan to arrive in timefor the ISTA Indianadelegation reception. Pleasecheck the schedule to seewhen this is and where it islocated this year.• Save receipts if you are beingreimbursed or funded by yourlocal, cluster, council, or as astate delegate.

Who, What, Where,When, How• YOU need to go toregistration: When—checkconvention schedule on theweb site• Where: register atconvention center• YOU need to check in at theISTA onsight office at thehotel• WHAT: Registration,Exhibits,Hearings—Click on NEARepresentative Assembly atthis link www.ista-in.org• HOW: a free shuttleservice runs between ourhotel and the conventioncenter. This runs nonstopduring the two dayspreceding the opening ofthe NEA RA. After that, itruns in the morningfollowing delegationmeeting and again at endof day following theAssembly meetings.
  4. 4. NEA Representative Assembly Begins• Attendance: There is a section for each state’s delegates to sit.You are expected to attend each day and sit with the Indianadelegation. You may come and go freely.• Dates: Check the schedule for dates of the NEA RA BusinessMeeting.• Entrance: Remember to wear your badge that you receive atregistration every day or you will not be admitted.• Lunch, snacks: There are vendors at the convention center. Inthe past, salads, sandwiches, and some snacks have beenavailable, with average meal prices around $12 to $15. You maypack snacks to bring with you if you so choose. Lunch is on yourown.• Packing for the day: Review the schedule each morning andpack only what you really need for the day.

HINTS For the Daily MeetingsMorning Indiana delegation meetings: 7 am-9amCoffee and breakfast NOT provided—however,you may bring your own breakfast into themeeting.Attendance is expected at this meeting.We auction items and have bucket dropsthroughout the meetings to raise funds for theNEA Fund for Children in Public Education.
  6. 6. Bucket Drop:You will receive free tickets every day in theIndiana meeting that you may use to drop intobuckets beside items you might like to win. Thereare drawings daily .You may also bring items to donate for the bucketdrop. Less expensive items are often used in thebucket drops, and more expensive items aresaved for auctions.
  7. 7. NEA Fund for Children and PublicEducation• What is it? Separate from dues, dollars givenvoluntarily: “Every member who contributes to the NEA Fund doesso voluntarily.   8. 8. Fundraising : Auctions• Each day, items are auctioned. Items range inprice and are donated by delegates.• The price of items you bid on and win will gotowards your total.
  9. 9. ISTA Spirit Day July 34th of July• July 3 is ISTA Spirit Day—for those whopurchased the ISTA shirt for the RA, weencourage you to wear it to show your ISTApride. If you did not purchase one, feel free towear something in a similar color.• Some delegates choose to dress in patrioticwear on July 4th. Feel free to do so if you wish.This is at your discretion.• Fireworks: Usually several groups gather to finda place to observe fireworks. Watch for signs onISTA bulletin board at hotel office.
