Comment préparer le voyage?• As a group we’ll get familiar with France and the places we’ll visit: • Classroom discussions • Learn about culture, customs, traditions with assistance from ISE Beyond the Classroom Wiki • Internet research for trip• Seek out additional opportunities to practice French
  6. 6. Quoi faire en France?• Sightseeing in and around Paris • Musée du Louvre and Musée d’Orsay • Château de Versailles • Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris• Other possible destinations • Regions: Normandie, Bretagne, Centre, Provence • Monet’s museum and gardens in Giverny • Tapisserie de Bayeux
  7. 7. Pourquoi habiter chez une famille d’accueil française?• To fulfill ISE’s commitment to offer studentscultural immersion opportunities abroad• Opportunity for students to observe and partakein daily life in France
  8. 8. La vie française• French families live in rural & urban areas• Every student will have a host sibling that is 1-5 years older or younger than him/her• Students will likely have the opportunity to attend school with their host siblings• Families typically live in condominiums

Plus sur la vie française• French families eat bread(baguette) with every meal• Dinner is sacred familytime and everyone must bepresent before meal begins• Top 3 dinner table topics:news, politics, and soccer!• Every meal starts or endswith cheese – and with 365varieties, there’s one foreach day of the year!

La façon dont ISE sélectionne les familles d’accueil• ISE Family Stay Coordinators are retired English teachers or individuals connected to community organizations including local churches and youth groups• Host families chosen by ISE Family Stay Coordinators • Must pass phone or in-person interview • Home visits may occur prior to acceptance
