Dear Colleagues,
2020 is approaching and the automotive industry uses all possible means to reach the emission
target and reduce weight.
No car design is possible without closure systems. Ensuring safety and protection of the occu-
pants, automotive closures are important elements of the car body. Therefore, it is not surprising
that engineers have a look at various possibilities of reducing weight also when it comes to these
car parts.
Aluminium is the talk of the town these days. Although more expensive than steel, aluminium is
the lighter option and already used in car body by Ford and Jaguar Land Rover, just to name a few.
Driving innovation doesn’t end with materials. It is also brought about by using more efficient and
safer door components such as the e-latch. And if you ever wondered how dissimilar materials
are joined for door applications, our speakers have an answer also to this question.
Join us in Cologne for the 8th
International Congress Automotive Doors 2015 to discuss the
latest innovations in closures and car body engineering as well as the materials of the future for
further automotive applications.
