Budget Impact Analysis of Three Presurgical Antisepsis Protocols

Surgical site infections
(SSIs) occur in up to 11.6% of surgeries. SSIs carry an associated
cost. Optimization of presurgical skin antisepsis mitigates the risk of SSIs. The purpose of this study was to estimate the net budget impact of three antisepsis techniques: DuraPrep solution1, ChloraPrep antiseptic2, and povidone-iodine scrub-paint (PI).
