Virtualization & Cloud Projects are failing without Network Automation

Published on

The dynamic nature of Virtualization and Cloud initiatives are a blessing and a curse, since most people have overlooked the impact that the real-time changes have on the static network infrastructure. When your virtual infrastructure is changing at machine speed, your network team cannot possibly keep up using existing manual processes. Without automation, the net effect will be increased network outages, and increased MTTR, as network visibility retreats.

  41. 41. vCD Plug-in Operation 1) An Administrator starts a work flow to provision a new VM 2) vCenter Orchestrator calls the Infoblox plug-in to request an IP address from an Infoblox NIOS appliance, which provides the IP address 3) vShere issues the address to the virtual server it is about to provision 4) Once the server has been provisioned, vCO requests that NIOS forward the provisioned IP address Information to IPAM so that the IP address database is automatically updated Similarly, when a virtual server is no longer needed, vCO will notify NIOS of this request which then passes the info to IPAM to remove the IP address and keeps the database updated.© 2010 Infoblox Inc.
