Sharing Presentations
Issues (1)
Formats : online tools are usually versatile Powerpoint, Keynote, Open Office, PDF, Word, …
Bells & Whistles : online tools are usually limited Embedded Hyperlinks & notes do work, sound & video must be added later, animations and transitions will be lost
Sharing Presentations
Issues (2)
Privacy : who can see what Different levels of privacy and access permissions possible Note: If set to ‘private’, presentations can usually still be shared. You can thus embed a presentation in a VLE yet keep it hidden from the public on the sharing website.
Licensing : managing permissions for distribution, re-use and alteration Slideshare supports Creative Commons licences, other tools usually require manual licence management
Sharing Presentations
Publication
Usually based on Flash Users must have Flash Player installed (can be expected as standard)
Can be embedded in other websites, including any VLE, e.g. Blackboard Presentation appears as part of a web page, no need for downloads
Download permissions can be controlled Slideshare currently requires download for printing
Statistics available Basic overview how often the slides have been viewed etc.
