The Inria Grenoble - Rhône-Alpes research centre uses its presence in Grenoble and Lyon to the fullest as a major institution for research and innovation in computational sciences in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Thanks to its academic, industrial and regional authority partners, the research centre focuses its contributions in particular on innovations in embedded software and micro/nanotechnologies in Grenoble and in bioinformatics and infectious diseases in Lyon.

How is 7 yearsInria research average lifespan of organised in France, a project-team Europe and abroad?The 171 project-teams are distributed in eight research centres locatedthroughout France. Inria is therefore in close proximity with its academicpartners (more than 45 universities, French “grandes écoles” and otherresearch bodies) and is invested in local innovation initiatives.The institute maintains special relations with its European partners: it is afounding member of the European Research Consortium for Informatics andMathematics, and it coordinates the French section of the EIT ICT Labsnetwork dedicated to developing the Internet of the future. Two Inria projectteams span international boundaries (Netherlands, Italy).Inria is a partner of several academic institutions in the United States, Asia,Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. It has a joint laboratory with theUniversity of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, as well as with the ChineseAcademy of Sciences. It actively supports African IT research.Inria has 71 associate teams with research centers in 28 countries.
