  • Smart Client offers high performance caching for very fast display/navigation of spatial data. This is accomplished via the geospatial data being cached in one of 3 locations: <br /> On your application server. Useful if your security policies prevent local machine caching. <br /> On a Local Area Network (LAN) server. Useful if your security policies prevent local machine caching. <br /> On each client computer/laptop. This is optimal relative to performance. <br /> Both vector and raster data may be cached for high speed display/navigation. When a client requests a new map via queries, a timestamp is checked on the local cache and compared to cached data on the server. If the timestamp has changed, indicating the server copy is newer, the local cache is automatically refreshed. Thus, Smart Client provides high speed performance and up to date data. <br />

  • Property and Cadastre Management using a Web GIS Ciaran Kirk, General Manager, IMGS
  • Agenda • IMGS • Property and Cadastre Management • Key Requirements for a Property GIS • Challenges for a Web GIS • Shannon Development • GeoMedia Smart Client • Demonstration • Benefits • Q&A
  • We deliver innovative spatial solutions for the desktop, web & mobile Built on our partner’s technology Designed to meet the challenges of Government, Mapping Agencies and Utility & Communications Customers Our customers include OSI, OSNI (LPS), ESB, Eircom, NIE, BT, Irish Naval Service and every Local Authority in Ireland
  • Property Management Introduction • Government Agencies require accurate and current land parcel (folio) records • Need to maintain the ownership and value of properties • And must accurately map the location and extent of landholdings
  • Key Requirements for a Property GIS • Accurate boundary capture and edit tools • Advanced Geometry validation tools e.g. to prevent parcels overlapping • Integration with Financial Register and Document Management System • Printing to Land Registry Standards
  • Web GIS Property Management • Historically desktop GIS were used to managed property data due to complex nature of property / cadastre workflows • But today web GIS tools can provide advanced GeoSpatial workflows through the web and mobile clients through products like GeoMedia Smart Client as used by Shannon Airport Authority (formerly Shannon Development)
  • Web GIS Challenges • Accurate capture through a browser • Ability to capture data at low scales • Performance of large amounts cadastre data over the web
  • Shannon Airport Authority • Shannon Development (now part of Shannon Airport Authority) required a modern property management solution to manage the property of the Shannon Free Zone • Solution wanted to move away from their legacy desktop GIS to a modern enterprise solution with a SQL Server 2008 database • Shannon selected IMGS and GeoMedia Smart Client to provide the Property Management GIS
  • Smart Client Administrator Workflow Manager
  • What is GeoMedia Smart Client • Advanced web editing and workflow optimization • Create customer-specific workflows in an easy way across the enterprise and into the field • Efficient, map-based tools for editing geometry and attributes, querying, viewing and printing
  • GeoMedia Smart Client Key Features • Feature rich mapping – Java Client • Multi parameter attribute searches • Advanced analysis tools (select, query etc) • Data capture, dimensioning and redlining • Advanced plotting • Supports large data quantities through caching • Active Directory and LDAP security – Functionality rights – Geographic rights
  • CAD functions • Easy-to-use (…”only” one optimized possibility) • Snapping (start-/end- point, vertex, mid point, orthogonal, intersection) • Auxiliary constructions (point, distance, polyline, extend-to, arc) • Object relations (parallel to, show relations, use existing geometry) • Capture and editing dialogs (e.g. input of x/y/z, distance lock, angle lock, …) • General functions (e.g. rotate, move, union, split…)
  • Smart Client Smart Client Smart Client Application Server Data Client Cache Server Cache LAN Server Cache 1 2 3 LAN Client High-Performance Caching Smart Client Server
  • Property Workflow • Capture, Edit and Delete (Including attribution) for: • Acquisitions • Landbank • Easement (Polygon) • Grazing (Polygon) • Joint Venture • Problem • Service
  • Shannon Property GIS Demonstration
  • Benefits • Centrally Managed Property GIS removes need for maintenance of desktop seats • Easy to use web system - lower training costs • Instant data updates to organisation – data now available across enterprise • Easy integration with Financial Asset Register
  • Thank You
