Conclusion• The leading role played by IITA in world cowpearesearch and development was reflected andacknowledged by several participants• IITA should take the opportunity given by thisconference to develop a long term strategy for cowpearesearch, also with regard to the implementation ofCRP3.• A meeting involving all the scientists working on thecrop is needed to identify the research priorities leadingto the improvement of cowpea productivity in sub-Saharan Africa. www.iita.org
