  • IIAR background and purpose • The Institute for Industry Analyst Relations started as a self-organizing community in 2007, then the need for an independent industry body quickly became evident • At its heart: A forum and network for AR practitioners by AR practitioners – vendors, consultants and agencies • Today at critical mass in EMEA, coming close elsewhere • Board of Directors, Secretary, Working Committees, Chapters • Digital presence – site, blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn • >100 paying members, bi-monthly forums, certification, education • Open LinkedIn Group • Active blog, including job postings
  • Benefits: education, certification, networking • Over a dozen best practice papers • Many more planned • Discounts provided to contributors • IIAR Cafes – online member chat sessions • Forums – online but also physical networking • Certification, refreshed tests under development • Certified AR Professional • Certified AR Expert • Presence at analyst firm events, e.g. IDC Directions

  • Introduction • Survey goals • Raise profile of AR as a profession • Recognise those individuals who stand out from the crowd, as seen by the analysts themselves • Evaluate how AR professionals are performing as a group, identify those areas which need more attention • Methodoloy • Survey sent via ARinsights to nearly 7,000 analysts, 300+ responded • USA and EMEA about 40%, IDC about 30% all other firms <10% 6
  • The IIAR 3R’s • The IIAR 3R’s of Analyst Relations are the three key traits required for the job • Responsiveness –analysts expect AR pros to revert back to them in a timely fashion with the information required for their research • Relationships –analysts have many stakeholders ; someone that’s easy to deal with always goes that bit farther • Results –can AR pros deliver results for their employers? 7
