  1. 1. Metaschool and NaturNet PLUS projects Premysl Vohnout Czech Center for Science and Society14.05.2010 10. Sächsisches GIS-Forum 1
  2. 2. Metaschool The METASCHOOL project aims to improve the in- service training of school teachers and school ICT staff on topics related to the organisation, sharing, use and re-use of digital learning resources that can be accessed online through learning repositories. Building upon the experience of successful research & development projects a consortium that brings together significant expertise from the fields of teacher training or content and web repositories organisation attempts to develop a practical training framework for improving the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom through the effective use of digital content.14.05.2010 10. 3. 3. NaturNet PLUS NaturNet plus transfers methods and knowledge from NaturNet Redime project (NNR) to European regions and enterprises through network of organizations in Europe dealing with Environmental Education (Czech Centre for Science and Society, Videsprojekti, Ligatne, REC Bulgaria, REC Romania, AliTerme, Srpa). The focus is on how to manage sustainable tourism in regions and mainly in sensitive areas as protected areas, national parks and coastal zones. NaturNet Plus put together educational materials and experiences from NaturNet Redime project with methods of REGEO and EMIRES projects. Using this network will make NaturNet+ results accessible to different groups of workers and public servants.14.05.2010 10. Sächsisches GIS-Forum 3
  4. 4. GeoPortal Geoportal is a site which allows users to search, view, examine and share spatial and non-spatial data. Geoportal is based on interoperability standards (OGC, W3C, OASIS, ISO) which are connected to other web-based resources. Geoportal should not be closed central storage of spatial data without possibility of redistribution of this data. Geoportal should be solution, which does support the searching of data and information and their viewing and using by external sources.14.05.2010 10. Sächsisches GIS-Forum 4
  5. 5. Structure Geoportal is a package of standalone applications. Every geoportal can have different set of these applications. The main purpose of this product is to be „INSPIRE compliant“ Architecture is based on Service Oriented Architecture which allows integration with other resources and other portals.14.05.2010 10. 6. 6. Components MiCKA is used as site where metadata can be put to metadata storage and published as a catalogue servic Catalogue client allows searching through connected metadata catalogues by catalogue services. Map viewer for this purpose is used HSLayers SimpleCMS Geohosting14.05.2010 10. Sächsisches GIS-Forum 6
  7. 7. SimpleCMS Simple CMS allows editing of home page of URM portal. This function is dedicate to administrator. SCMS allows: Define content and system of menu for home page Publish on home page articles Publish external links in menu on home page Publish on home page predefined map composition from MapMan Order information on home page Remove information from home page Publish RSS channels on home page14.05.2010 10. 10. 10. Map Viewer HSLayers (Help Service+OpenLayers) combines  capabilities of ExtJS and OpenLayers and several  helper scripts, to truly Web GIS applications.  Development has been started in 2007 and It has  been open sourced after 2 years of development, in  2009, and released under conditions of GNU  General Public License 3.14.05.2010 10. 14. 14. Metadata Extractor Metadata extractor is tool, which supporting extraction of available metadata directly from different files (documents, presentation, etc.), Editing this metadata and publishing of metadata and files on URM portal. Other possibility is extract metadata (and then edit) directly from existing URL addresses and store metadata on URM portal. Access to information is then trough direct URL addresses.14.05.2010 10.
