It is becoming more a custom now, where we celebrate our anniversary at an offsite location. All of us were in a unison that we need to go to a place, which will facilitate team building coupled with some adventure activities.
We had everything from beach adventures, river rafting and treacherous peak on the cards. We finally had two options; it was either a trip to Sakleshpur or Masinagudi (where we had our 1st anniversary celebration). Due to some real bad weather at Sakleshpur, we decided on Masinagudi yet again.
Dancing in the Tempo Traveler: Some real weird dance arts were created during the trip. One of them, shock dance, one that was modeled on the kind of reaction that you would go through if you would touch a high tension wire.
Evening Trek: Sightings on trek were a bear and who can forget the magnanimous Tiger. Tigers are an endangered species in India, less than 1500 around. To see one of them in the wild is nearly a spiritual experience. Congrats to Nasir, Syed & Praveen.
Bonfire: Singing coupled with dancing to songs from the times of our fathers to the latest hip movers were a real treat. Dumb charades was a great activity too. We did see some real good acting.
Night Safari: It was a real daring act to venture into the jungles at night to get a feel of the night life there.
Morning Trek: The trek gave fitness a new meaning. We had walked for 3 hours on the trot with a 5 min break each hour. Some of the views would make you stop and just stand in awe.
Swim in the Dam: Being a water freak, just could not end without talking about this . Even the freezing water was not a deterrent.
Gopalaswamy Betta: Pleasant climate, cloudy sky with a cool breeze was a perfect way to relax.
Started, as usual from Rohan's place, at 4.30 in the morning (29th August, 2008) and started towards Masinagudi. It was music and dance all throughout till we reached the place. We had great introduction sessions on the way. After one quick tea break, we reached by 11.30 in the morning at Masinagudi. Mr. Abid was our host and he gave us a very warm welcome.
After refreshing ourselves, we had a quick brunch and started the trekking. Whoa, it was really a great eye opener for most of us, to find the level of energy and passion each member showed during the trek. It was just a warm up for the next day's vigorous trekking. The highlight of the trek was that three of our team members (Syed, Nasir & Praveen) got to see the tiger just 10 meters away. As per them it was the greatest event of their life.
We reached the resort back at 7 pm and after one-hour rest we started to the bonfire by the river side. We had some games like dumb charades and anthyakshari that was a real fun till about 9.30 pm and reached back to the resort for dinner.
After a sumptuous dinner, we started for the safari (in an open jeep) at around 10.30 pm and it was such a lovely sight. We got to see a herd of elephants & Bison all the way. We decided not to take any cameras along and rather enjoy the beauty of Nature and God's creation with our naked eyes. We reached the resort back at 12 midnight.
We woke up the next day morning and got ready to go. We started the trekking by 6.15 in the morning and we pushed our limits this time around. The trek was through uphill, shrubs and one of the most treacherous paths in the jungle. We got to see the rougher part of the jungle and by the end of it, most of us were almost torn apart with the trek.
We were taken to the dam near Masinagudi and everybody refreshed themselves. Rohan just could not control himself and went straight into the water, followed by Syed. Breakfast was served by the river side and everybody started feasting on it (Idlis, Pongal, Sambar & Chutney). After a filling breakfast, we moved towards the resort. We decided to leave the resort sooner than planned and move onto Gopalaswamy betta (Hillside temple).
We left around 12 noon from the resort (heavy heartedly) and started our journey towards Gopalaswamy betta. We reached around 3 pm over there and it was an amazing sight at the top. Visited the temple there and made an offering. We enjoyed every minute at that place as it was a scenic beauty and from there we moved to Mysore.
We met Balaji (friend of Praveen & Nataraj), a very helpful person who not only booked the table at Resort Planet X, but also was with us till we left Mysore. We had linner there. He took us to a good place for the paans and mmm they were really tasty. Around 9 pm we started back to Bangalore (all tired by now). We reached at around 11.30 pm by Rohan's place and all parted their ways envisioning many more such celebrations together.
