    4. 4. <ul><li>In the 70ies in Germany our people didn´t mind to heat all over the whole year, and in summer time, they cooled the buildings at the same time. </li></ul><ul><li>technical innovations: </li></ul><ul><li>intelligent regulation systems , including an automatic control sytem for venetian blinds </li></ul><ul><li>Use of an adiabat cooling system, which works by spraying water into the ventilation system to get a cooling effect </li></ul><ul><li>free cooling ventiliation during the night in some parts of the building, which means to cool the building during the summer by raising the ventilation with fresh, cool air from the outside. Building conception: Reduction of the space heat requirement Installation of a thermic protection insulating glazing in the restaurant as well as an internal insulation in the bar and guest area.   Improvement of the room air Source ventilation: the fresh preheated supply air expands within the base range into the guest area, continues to warm up by internal heat loads and presses up used air into the air exhaust duct. > best air conditions with optimized change of air   Reduction of the ventilation losses   by ventilation heat recovery in the bar with a recuperation grade of 95 %. Reduction of the ventilation losses in the kitchen by use of ventilation equipment with direct admission of fresh air into the exhaust air caps: > optimal kitchen ventilation with smallest losses of energy over the exhaust air.     22. 26. Rainwater concept <ul><li>The courtyard is full of plants. The whole rain water of the site can drain away on the planted areas. </li></ul><ul><li>The draining water meets the ground and goes through pipes down under the basement where it can drain away. </li></ul>

Minimized Energy Consumption <ul><li>20 cm thermal insulation on the external walls and roof </li></ul><ul><li>Thermal insulating glazing, U=1,2 W/m²K </li></ul><ul><li>The need of thermal heat of the Solar Info Center is 29,8 kWh/m²a and about 30% below the by law permitted need. It is a so-called „3-Liter-House“. </li></ul>

Reduction of Emissions <ul><li>There is a pipeline running through the site coming from the district heating system network at the university hospital. </li></ul><ul><li>We use the pipeline and receive the heat from a newly installed heat recovery system at this district heating system </li></ul><ul><li>The production of the thermal heat is emission-free by 100%. </li></ul>

Contracting <ul><li>The Solar Info Center finances part of the heat recovery system by contracting </li></ul><ul><li>The heat recovery system delivers more energy than the Solar Info Center needs </li></ul><ul><li>No additional cost for user and investor compared to conventional system because of the reduced energy consumption of the building. </li></ul>
