    • Serve as global hub for network of regional rust reference laboratories (methodology, protocols, common sets of DNA markers, differentials, analyses, exploit current strengths)
    • Undertake race analyses for areas with insufficient facilities
    • Facilitate R-gene postulation for rust resistance in wheat
    • Assist in training in wheat rust pathology
    • House a gold-mine of isolate ressources for research in pathogen genomics, evolution and dispersal pathways at global scales (diversity in both time and space)
    • Host ’wheat rust toolbox’ – database and web-based dissemination of results for disease surveillance and pathogen diversity
