  3. Behvard Village – Behavard had lots of fruitful gardens – Because of climate change – Behvard converted to a Dry land large immigration of rural areas happened – Story of Constructing Behvard Underground dam
  4. • Behvard Underground water dam – Measures • 50 participatory workshop for – Problem statement – Stakeholder analysis – Defining measures – constructing dam
  5. • Behvard Underground water dam – Measures • Biological rehabilitation measures in upstream (150 Hec.) • Mechanical watershed management measures (130 cases) • Population 50  500 people • Organic production of pomegranate gardens is exporting to other part of the country • Economical impact assessment: Benefit/ Cost =1.49
  6. • Behvard Underground water dam – Participatory process of establishing, Managing, operating, and water allocations – Now we have a little lake by  transferring water from underground dam by wells and pipes
  7. • Highlights – It was First experience in I.R.Iran – Replicate it to three other sites in Iran like Kermanshah Razin and etc.

  19. It needs to have proper interactions between real stakeholders (not only managers but also experts and communities) ICARDA facilitate these movement of MENARID projects and we got lots of ideas from each other  now its time to Shift the approach from table top to field visit of best practices to sharing MENARID filed knowledge properly.
