  • This slide is an exerpt from the “How Your Client Will Benefit from Information Governance” presentation (one of the links on next slide)…..you don’t need to learn how to present the unified process yourself, but note that IBM is a thought leader on Information Governance and Data Governance, that our global services and lab services organizations have been help customers achieve governance, that these influence the development of our tools, and we have significant tangible resources (books, etc.) to go along with our offerings and expertise. Note that this slide speaks to the whole Information Management porfolio……you don’t need to necessarily do every “animated build”……..[and that the product associations are not necessarily a complete list….there are other associations that can be made…can you suggest any?]….. … you need to be comfortable being the Information Server lead with the rest of the IBM team, where others may be using this material in a workshop or other deliverable.
  • Many companies call us in because they think that they just need an ETL tool. Usually, solving the business problem requires addressing more than ETL. Companies have data integration challenges that have prevented them from solving the business problem. They need to solve these data integration challenges completely. ETL is only one part of the data integration process. Don’t get trapped into an ETL discussion just because the customer thinks they just need an ETL tool. Don’t get trapped into an ETL discussion just because competitors are trying to focus the discussion on ETL.

  • An IBM Proof of Technology Go to 'View > Header and Footer' to change this to match the event title IBM InfoSphere Metadata Workbench provides visual Web-based exploration of information assets generated and used by IBM InfoSphere Information Server modules. It improves business trust in information and increases IT responsiveness by tracing and maintaining the relationship paths of information throughout an integration lifecycle. It visually depicts these relationships from the sources of information to the places where information is actually used—even across different tools and technologies. IBM Metadata Workbench outlines the complete lineage of fields from applications, reports or data warehouses back to source systems, including what types of processing were performed on them along the way. It also visualizes the exact impact of any change to any information asset, which includes showing specific reports, databases or services that would be affected if a source column were changed.
