Perils of Plagiarism:Catcher of the Rye: SequelBy Leilani Abdon, Lance Modesto,Nathan Antolin, Edwin Martinez
Who?The Plagiarist:Fredrik Colting: also known as "J.D.California"). The Victim: J.D. Salinger (Real author of Catcher in the Rye)
What?In 2009, Swedish author and publisher,Fredrik Colting, was sued by the originalwriter of Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger, forplagiarizing. Colting claims that is was meantto be a parody, but Salinger thinks otherwise. That is Fredrik Colting.------------->
Where? The book Coming Through the Rye: 60Years Later was published in the UK, but hasbeen banned, by a judge, in the UnitedStates.
Why?"J.D. California" stated that he wanted tocreate a sequel to get some "quick cash".
How?Colting created this "parody" by using thesame characters from the original bookCatcher in the Rye and set it, and called it,60 Years Later and make a story on it.Whats worst is that he claims the charactersas his own... In other words, he plagiarized J.D. Salinger characters and storyline!
