History and location <ul><li>The first recorde d mention of the existence of Pardubice dates from 1295, when the Pope Boniface VIII founded the monastery and the Bartholomew church. </li></ul><ul><li>Pardubice is situated in the easter part of the Polabí at the confluence of the river Labe and Chrudimka. Kunětická hora is situated near Pardubice. The re live 90 831 inhabitants. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Velká Pardubická Steeplechase and Josef Váňa as seven-time winner of „ Velká Pardubická “ <ul><li>. Pardubice is popular by Velká Pardubická Steeplechase . Velká Pardubická is the difficult horse race. Velká Pardubická Steeplechase has been ridden from 1874. The race is 6900 metres long. Horses have to overcome 31 hurdles.The most difficult hurdle is Taxis Trench which is the hardest in the continent. Josef Váňa significantly influenced the Velká Pardubická. He won seven times and was also the oldest rider in history.In 2010 he won the seventh ride with Tuimen. </li></ul>Josef Váňa

The emblem of the Pardubice and crest <ul><li>The emblem of the Pardubice region consists of four parts: in the first part, there is the Czech two-tailed lion, in the second field , there is the Moravian eagle, in the third field , there is a silver rectangular wall with a golden globe, in the fourth field , there is a half silver horse with golden armor. </li></ul><ul><li>The Crest : the rumo r says that Ješek from Pardubice saved a half of his horse that was cut off by the falling bridge at Milan gateway in 1158. This horse became the crest emblem of the city of Pardubice. </li></ul>emblem crest

Pardubice´s gingerbread <ul><li>Tradional gingerbread made in Pardubice is the symbol of their success and contact with the world.Gingerbread is a sweet dark brown bread, the original recipe consists of honey, flour and pepper. I t gave the name of pepper gingerbread, originally peprník . </li></ul>
