  • 1. Sleep with class in a design hostel and have stylish sweet dreams! Whether it's a vintage, industrial or futuristic design hostel, we just love them all Are you a keen traveler and at the same time very much into interior/creative design? Or have you simply got bored of ordinary hostels and are looking for one with a personal touch to surprise you? We've put together the best design hostels you can find in The Netherlands, check them and get inspired by so much creativity. Stayokay Rotterdam, Rotterdam Have you ever dreamt of living in a Cube House by architect Piet Bloom? Well, you actually can if you are staying at the Stayokay Rotterdam. This HI hostel is housed in the biggest 45-degree yellow and black cubes composing the Cube Houses. You can book private rooms as well as beds in female or mixed shared rooms: both private rooms and dorms are ensuite. Guests can relax at the bar, use the free WiFi connection to stay connected with family and friends. Stayokay Rotterdam also boasts of a primary location, on the historical area of Oude Haven. Hello I'm Local Boutique Hostel, Haarlem You will have serious troubles at deciding which rooms you want to sleep in this hostel: one is better and cooler than the other! All themed roomsare designed after traditional Dutch themes but with a modern twist. If you decide to stay in their "Holstein Friesian" room you will experience a typical bedstee; the "VOC Kolonie Kaarten-makers" rooms instead is covered in maps and will make you travel through the history of this famous Dutch East-India mapmaker Company. If you stay in "The Province" room which is a 14-bed mixed dorms, you will sleep in bunk beds especially designed by the students of a Interior Design School. There is also a great common lounge and an outdoor patio with fireplace and sitting area.
  • 2. Stayokay Soest, Soest Mix design and nature and you'll get Stayokay Soest. This hostel infact combines modern design, top-notch facilities to as natural as possible materials. It is located very close to the Soester dunes and it's the ideal starting point for excursions and day trips to Utrecht. Common facilities are just great and include bar, restaurant, outdoor terrace with sitting area. Rooms available can be private or shared (mixed or female) and have all their own private bathroom. King Kong Hostel, Rotterdam King Kong Hostel is the latest great addition to Rotterdam hostels. Newly opened, it's housed in a building that has itself a pretty interesting curriculum: it went from being a tattoo shop first and an illegal casino/famous brothel later. It's now a urban style hostel, a mix of vintage style and industrial design. Each room has been individually designed: there is the "Lover loft", the "Businness" dorm, the "Kong Meis" room and the "Red Velvet" dorm and many more unique room types. There is a roof garden with BBQ and the hostel is served by an on site bar, the 'Soul Kitchen' which even serves sushi, as well as cappuccino and muffins!
  • 3. Hostelle - Female Only, Amsterdam It gets even better when it comes to Hostelle; as well as being a design accommodation, this hostel is in fact extremely affordable and only for female travellers. Each design room is uniquely decorated with a special theme. Feel like turning back time to the French Revolution? Stay in the "Marie Antoniette" room, decorated with French fabric and goldish chandelier. Are you more into Asian art? Go for the "Chinese Room", with original Chinese lamps and furniture. The room choice is wide: there is also an "Alice in Wonderland" room and a "Home is where the heart is" room. Classy touch even for the bathrooms, equipped withGrohe showers. Bianca, Hostelle manager and owner, shares a useful travel tip to visit Amsterdam with style: "Once a month there is a super big flea market in Amsterdam called the Ijhallen on the North side of Amsterdam. Wanna see how much you can buy for 20 euro? Come to the Ijhallen! Local vendors offer vintage stuff and second hand goodies. Prices are negotiable! The next one will be on the 5th and 6th of April. Make sure you visit it, it's the biggest flea market in Holland! Just take the ferry from Central Station to the NDSM area. Come by car and you will park for free!"
