  • For the time being, we remain in a short-term, "postcarbon" period, in which multivariate sustainability performance (that is, energy, water, waste and resource efficiency) is the focus for enterprises. Even without binding international agreements on carbon emissions and climate change, organizations are increasingly being forced to proactively engage with sustainability as a key competency in operational performance for deeper customer and partner relationships, as well as to ensure appropriate reporting regimes and regulatory compliance. Efforts are primarily focused on energy and resource efficiency, compliance, and carbon reporting, with an additional focus on overall sustainable performance measurement and sustainable product management
  • A handful of Type A utilities is piloting gamification tactics to drive participation in customer-facing programs, such as energy efficiency and demand response.
