    • Executive Summary In today’s economy saving money is one of the top priorities for any small business owner. Usually this means cutting corners in some places to do so. As a small business owner with a fleet of delivery vehicles this may seem like a difficult place to save money. Although you may want t have your vehicles properly serviced at a dealership, you do not want to spend that much money. This is where Top Gear Automotive Repair Services help you as a small business owner. The solution for this problem is to save money by bringing your vehicles to an independent garage. Top Gear Automotive Services provides exception service at very competitive pricing. On top of the basic services we can perform all of the diagnostics and repairs at competitive prices while still offering competitive pricing.
    • Background The price of repairs at many dealerships is very costly. “…usually at about $75.00 to $95.00 per hour.” [1] With prices like this, it makes it very difficult for small business owners to perform the proper maintenance and repairs on their vehicles. Top Gear Automotive Repair Services is able to provide the proper repairs at very competitive pricing. Many people also have the idea that the best technicians are only at dealerships. This is not true. Many independent shops employ ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified technicians. Technicians who pass the ASE prove their competence in the various fields of automotive technology. “Certification consists of passing at least one specialty test and documenting two years of relevant work experience.” [2] We as Top Gear Automotive Services only employ ASE certified technicians. Our team of five technicians consists of two ASE master technicians (these technicians have all of the certifications required by the ASE) and the other three hold a minimum of four ASE certifications. As with all dealerships, we guaranty our work and stand by it with a 6 month / 6,000 mile warranty on all services and 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty on all dealer parts. All of our warranties are “no hassle”.

For an additional $3,000/year we offer a 24 hour road side assistance service for your company vehicles. All work is based on a flat rate labor fee. “The labor time required to perform a certain task will vary depending on how much other stuff has to be removed to get at the part, the average degree of difficulty of the job, whether any special tools are procedures are required, the age of the vehicle and so on.” [4] Initial diagnostics will be charged as 1 hour of work. If there seems to be no problems or the problem could not be duplicated, you will be charged the $65.00 fee. If the problem is found, the hour charge of diagnostics will be dropped and the fee of the services will just be considered.

Web. 20 Oct. 2009. <http://www.ase.com/Content/NavigationMenu/ASE_Resource_Center1/About_ ASE2/ASE_Profile/ASE_Profile.htm>. I will use this article to explain what it means to be ASE certified. This article provides the necessary information for me, and in my report I will properly refer to it when I describe it. "Auto Repair Advice: How Much Should It Cost To Fix Your Car?" Auto Repair Advice: How Much Should It Cost To Fix Your Car? Ed. AA1Car. Web. 20 Oct. 2009. <http://www.aa1car.com/library/auto_repair_costs>. This article was very useful. In order for me to educate the customer, the customer must know what the costs of repairing are. The article also gives definitions of some of the terms used in the automotive repair business. • This is more of a table than an article, but it is very useful. I will use this table in my report to show the customer what exactly needs to be done and at what intervals they should be performed. It is very important for a customer to see a chart like this so that they know that the repairs recommended are legitimate and not plucked out of the air.
