PROJECT MANAGEMENT
• Managed closing of Silver Street shipping site and start-up of Riverport Distribution Center using MS
Project. Responsibilities included developing operational concepts, preparing cost analysis and
capital justification, specifying doors and security system, and designing office areas (AutoCad).
Collaborated with contractor and insurance company on sprinkler system, oversaw construction and
wiring. Created queries to extract historical data from ERP system, created Excel spreadsheets and
MS Access databases to analyze the data and then used AutoCad to design the warehouse layout for
optimal picking efficiency. Recruited and hired staffing for the facility. Procured (specified,
prepared RFP, wrote capital requests and submitted Purchase Orders) all equipment and negotiated
agreements for various services. Developed the transition plan and supervised the inventory
movement and start-up without disrupting service to customers. The project was the smoothest
introduction of any DC by CLARCOR.
• Managed implementation of multi-site ERP system impacting all functional areas. Developed MS
Project plan, performed gap analysis and field mapping, coordinated with consultants and
programmers. Worked with facility managers and employees to ensure conversion readiness.
Created operational procedures and training documents, performed testing of various scenarios.
Traveled to sites for “Go Live” support.
• Managed integration projects for merger of two similarly sized companies that had previously been
competitors.
• Managed project to successfully acquire AIAG PPAP approval from GM for new products.
• Managed various projects for facility and product re-alignment, product development, system and
process changes.
• Designed layout of new warehouse, trained warehouse employees and led shipping to begin
operations ahead of schedule at Pennsylvania plant.
• Designed layout of new Jeffersonville warehouse to combine three existing facilities into one facility
while meeting an aggressive timeline. Teamed with Engineering and Production to layout production
equipment. Coordinated material movements with Transportation, Shipping and Receiving.
QUALITY ADMINISTRATION:
• Directed efforts of Indiana plant (largest commercial/industrial filter plant in the US) to achieve
ISO-9000 registration.
• Implemented quality management system on-time and under budget using in-house resources.
• Created and successfully implemented ISO plan for Kentucky facility which reduced project timeline
and produced a 14.8% cost savings compared to Indiana plant.
• Initiated actions to bring company into full compliance with QS 9000 and railroad requirements.
• Prepared PPAP submissions to receive approval from General Motors and assisted sister company in
receiving PPAP approval from GM Canada.
• Guided company through NQA-1 (Nuclear Quality Assurance) audits for approval from DOE-SQIG
at two largest plants and FDA-GMP audit by major customer. Received "Approved Supplier" status
at several major companies.
• Prepared application for the State of Indiana Quality Improvement Award and met with the Lt.
Governor to receive the award.
• Served on Board of Examiners for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Quality Award.
• Coordinated Underwriters Laboratories flammability testing and approval. Developed simulated
UL-94 HF-1 testing and water holdout test.
• Created Material Technical Data Sheets and format later used by Engineering.
• Created procedures for Receiving Inspection, First Piece Inspection, Final Inspection, Calibration,
Supplier Rating, Returned Goods, Sales Samples, Government Contracts and Internal Audits and
assisted in development of procedures by other departments.
• Developed & maintained list of external standards (Gov’t, ANSI, ASHRAE, UL, etc).
• Developed Bill Of Material verification and Dock Audit programs.
• Helped design many new products (Formal Design Review and other tools).
• Helped design and test new equipment (Capability Studies) and processes (FMEA, PFMEA).
• Made numerous presentations to management staff and Board of Directors using PowerPoint and
other presentation tools. Presented ISO-9000:2000 Revision at Business Modernization and
Technology group meeting.
• Worked with customers in various sectors (Automotive, Government, Railroad, OEM, and Private
Label) and suppliers. Participated in negotiations, problem solving and optimization exercises with
these national and international stakeholders.
• Worked with licensees and company owned facilities in Canada, Mexico and Malaysia on
specifications, problem-solving, production methods and NAFTA forms.
• Prepared MBNQA (Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award) application.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:
• Plant Manager of high volume plant with responsibility for scheduling, purchasing, production,
maintenance, human resources, warehousing and P&L.
• Provided leadership in strategic planning and product line changes.
• Increased plant capacity without adding space by introducing new equipment, improving existing
equipment, changing processes and layout.
• Improved labor efficiency from 74% to 100% during a challenging period.
• Increased sales shipments by 72% above prior year.

• Managed Distribution Center with responsibilities for Traffic, Shipping, Receiving, Customer Service
and changed company’s shipping paradigm.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:
• Reduced operational errors impacting customer satisfaction (Quality, Manufacturing Error, and
Shipping Error) by 52% and again by 61% the following year.
• Prioritized improvement targets based on Pareto analysis and presented results at Management
Conferences and in weekly meetings.
• Reduced order flow lead-time by two days.
• Implemented new equipment and process flows to improve throughput, quality and efficiency.
• Increased on-time delivery from < 60% to over 95% while reducing excess inventory without
increasing the labor cost in cartons per labor hour. Received commendations for the quick turn-
around in a key facility.
• Traveled extensively to all company facilities as a troubleshooter and internal process improvement
