  2. Slide 2: History of Life • Mary Ludwig Hayes McCauley • More historically named Molly Pitcher • Born in Trenton in 1754 • Not much known about her mother • Father was a dairy farmer • Sent off to work at the age of 15 by father • Married twice with one child from first husband

Slide 3: Known For • Rather than staying back while husband went to war, went to war with her husband • Initially tended to injured soldiers and helped to repair uniforms • On a very hot day, decided to bring her husband and his mates water, using a pitcher, which is how she got the name Molly Pitcher • Husband collapsed of heat related reasons, so Mary took over for her husband, who was responsible for firing canons
