ABOUT AIRPORT AUTHORITY OF INDIA Airports Authority of India (AAI) was build by an Actof Parliament and came into being on 1st April, 1995 bymerging erstwhile National Airports Authority andInternational Airports Authority of India.‡ AAI at various airports handled about 5 lakhs aircraftmovements (4 lakhs domestic and 1 lakh international);40million passengers (26 million domestic and 14 millioninternational) and 9 lakh tonnes of cargo (3 lakh domesticand 6 lakh international). ‡ AAI manages 126 airports, which include 11international airports, 89domestic airports and 26 civilenclaves at Defence airfields‡‡

  6. 6. NAV - AIDSI.L.S. (Instrument Landing System) Localizer : Helps aircraft to identify the centralline of runway. Range:- 10-25 NM Frequency:- 108-111.9 MHz Glide Path : Gives the glide angle i.e. angle ofdeclination achieve for safe landing. Range:- 10 NM(-8 to +8 degrees) Safe glide angle:- 2-4 degrees

  8. 8.  DISTANCE MEASURING EQUIPMENT(DME) : DME is used in navigational aid whichprovide a pilot with visual inforegarding his position(distance)related to ground base DME station. The frequency rangeused for DME is between 960 MHz to1215 MHz . This frequency is usedBecause it has better frequency stability comparative tonext higher frequencies in microwave band. It has lessreflection and attenuation.
  9. 9. Security Equipments Used inrport X- Ray Scanner:  Organic X-RAYs Baggage Inorganic Metals X -ray is used in x-ray baggage systems. In this a baggage put in scanner ,then it would show colour according to material.  Metal Detector HHMD(Hand held Metal Detector) DFMD (Door Frame Metal Detector)
  10. 10. Communication SystemCommunication is the process of sending , receiving and processing of information byelectrical means. Basically communication system consist of 3 major blocks which are : Transmitter Channel AntennaReceiver Crystal Osc. Modulator RF output Audio In Audio Amp.
  11. 11. Receiver: Rx Antenna RF Receive Speaker Audio and Power Intermediate Demodulator Amp. Local Oscillator
  12. 12. WATCH TOWERControls the movement of aircraft on airportrunways and airport airspace.Local controller has jurisdiction overrunways.It provides every necessary information to pilots like climate condition etc.
