      Examples: Won’t (will not); Isn’t (is not)

      A person, place, or thing.
      Examples: teacher, cat, home, pencil.
    • 4. Verbs
      Action words.
      Examples: play, run, jump.
    • 5. Pronouns
      Substitutes for nouns the indicates persons or things asked for.
      Examples: him, her, whom
    • 6. Adjectives
      Words to describe a noun.
      Examples: good, cold, shiny.
    • 7. Proper Nouns
      Names for unique people, events, or places.
      Examples: Michigan, George Washington, Halloween.
    • 8. Past Tense
      A word describing something that happened in the past.
      Examples: rained, fell, slept.
