  3. 3. John Herschel Glenn, Jr. <ul><li>Was the first American to orbit the Earth </li></ul><ul><li>The NASA John H. Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field in Cleveland , Ohio is named after him. </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul>
  4. 4. Neil Armstrong <ul><li>Neil Alden Armstrong was born on August 5,1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. </li></ul><ul><li>He got a degree in aeronauti cal engineering from Purdue University. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Neil Armstrong <ul><li>On July 20, 1969 Mr. Armstrong and fellow astronaut Edwin Aldrin successfully touched down on the moon. </li></ul><ul><li>He and Aldrin explored the Moon's surface for 2 hours and 30 minutes. </li></ul>

Nicholas Copernicus <ul><li>Nicholas Copernicus (1473 -1543) was a Polish astronomer, well known for his Copernican theory. </li></ul><ul><li>His theory stated that sun rest near the center of the universe, and the earth, which spun daily on its axis, revolved annually around the sun. </li></ul>

Kathryn Thornton <ul><li>Kathryn Thornton was born in Montgomery, Alabama. </li></ul><ul><li>She received a bachelor's in physics from Auburn University in 1974. </li></ul><ul><li>Completing her training in 1985, Thornton has spent over 593 hours in space, including 21 hours of spacewalks. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Eugene Cernan <ul><li>Captain Eugene Cernan was one of the fourteen astronauts selected by NASA in October 1963. </li></ul><ul><li>He occupied the pilot seat alongside of command pilot Tom Stafford on the Gemini XI mission </li></ul>
